Medication Policy

No medication, including over the counter medications will be administered to students unless the following are adhered to.

1. Only the school nurse or parent can dispense medication. Exceptions include medications to treat life threatening conditions, such as inhalers, epinephrine or insulin.

2. Medications must be in the original, prescription labeled container from the pharmacy.

3. The prescribing doctor must provide written instructions to dispense the medication at school, including dosage and time to be administered at school.

4. Parent medication authorization forms must be completed and signed by parents. Forms are available on the school website or from the school nurse.

5. Students may only self-administer life threatening medications when indicated by the physician’s order.
